Happiness - Tool of Personal Liberation

Happiness is a Stockholm-based dark ambient duo consisting of Anders Fridén (In Flames, If Anything, Suspicious) and Jerker Josefsson (Ställverket). Their second album, Tool of Personal Liberation, expands on the foundation laid by the self-titled debut while exploring new sonic territory. Written during an isolated long weekend on the Swedish island of Gotland, the album emerged from a period of focused experimentation, creative conversations and a shared desire to push the project forward without losing sight of its core identity. Still rooted in dark ambient, drone and field recordings, the band introduces a stronger rhythmic pulse alongside analog instrumentation, inhabiting a space somewhere between futuristic dystopia and ancient ritual. The duo jokingly referred to the new direction as “shaman techno”. Released both digitally and physically through the band’s own imprint, Records! Records! Records!
